Chromatography Accessories
Dr. Christian Wegner has been directing and advising our manufacturing, quality, and product development teams for chromatography accessories and porous products since 2022. Born in Berlin, he studied biochemistry at the Free University of Berlin and earned his Ph.D. in 1988, focusing on embryonal disorders through extensive use of HPLC.
Starting from scratch with HPLC, Dr. Wegner developed a method for determining folic acid and metabolites to study the effects of folates on embryonic disorders in teratology. After completing his Ph.D., he worked at the Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, continuing his research in teratology using HPLC. He then returned to Berlin to join VDS Optilab as a sales manager, where he gained experience in HPLC accessories.
In 1997, Dr. Wegner moved to Sweden to join Jour Research as Sales Manager, where he expanded his knowledge of international work and distribution of large-dimension HPLC accessories. After Jour Research was incorporated into the VICI/Valco organization in 1999, he was appointed CEO of VICI Jour and oversaw its relocation from Sweden to Switzerland in 2003.
Dr. Wegner later founded two companies: one in Sweden focusing on porous metal parts and another in Germany, Applied Research Europe, specializing in HPLC accessories. Both companies were acquired by MicroSolv in 2022.
