Inline Filters | Protect Your Columns | 2µm or 0.5µm
Our technical team strongly recommends filtering every sample before injection using a syringe filter. However, even with pre-filtering, samples can agglomerate or precipitate in the vial or pick up particles from the injector. Additionally, common shredding of pump seals can introduce particles into column frits, potentially damaging your column. The most economical and essential way to protect your columns and guard columns is by using disposable Cogent Column Filters or inline filters.

Inlet filters serve as the first line of defense by retaining particles, precipitates, and microbes from solvents, buffers, and salt solutions. This prevents pressure increases, contamination, and poor peak performance.
Our low-cost pre-column filters feature finger-tight fittings with an installed stainless steel (SS) frit (other frit types available) that can be easily hand-tightened into the inlet nut of the HPLC column or guard column. The SS frit is available in 0.5µm or 2µm porosity. When back pressure rises, it’s time to replace the filter with its trapped particles. Each Cogent column purchase includes one filter, and inline filters come with 25 replaceable filters. Additional replacements can be purchased.
